It can close the annular space between casing and tubing column, and can fully close the wellhead. In the case of closure, drilling fluid circulation, throttling and spraying, well pressure and other operations can be carried out through the lower four-way or the pipeline connected to the outlet next to the casing. Under special circumstances, the drilling tools can be cut off to achieve the purpose of well closure. Drilling tools can be suspended. The annulus between the tubing column and the casing of different specifications of a certain range can be closed by using the reducer gate.
1) Shape. Generally, the casing is nearly square, and there is a gate chamber in the middle which moves horizontally through the vertical through-hole gate of the drilling tool.
2) Connection method. There are three kinds of connections in the upper and lower parts: planting wire connection, flange connection and clamp connection. The connection flanges, bolts, clamps, and steel ring dimensions are according to API standards.
Double sided gate, top and bottom of the gate are symmetrical. Different sizes of drilling tools only need to replace the rubber seal half-ring and gate pressure fast, the rest of the parts can be universal interchangeable: single-sided with the gate can not be flipped to use: shear gate can cut off the wellhead drilling tools and the full seal of the wellhead: variable diameter gate used in a certain range of different sizes of drilling tools and casing sealing
3)Features of gate sealing
Floatation of the gate, automatic sand removal by the gate and sealing by well pressure, automatic centering of the gate and self-advancement. Gate blowout preventer sealing wellhead should have four seals working at the same time to achieve effective sealing of the well, i.e.: the seal between the top of the gate and the casing, the seal between the front of the gate and the tubing, the seal between the casing and the side door, and the seal between the piston rod and the side door.
4) Gate locking device
Manual locking device is by human power to rotate the handwheel to close or lock the gate. It should be noted that the manual locking device is only used to close the gate, not to open the gate. After the use of the gate to open the first manual locking device must be reset to unlock, and then open the gate with hydraulic pressure.
